Joe Burt is a freelance scenic designer and visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of the BFA Theatre Design & Technology program at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Before the March 2020 Theatre Shutdown, he was a studio assistant for Alexander Dodge, Arnulfo Maldonado, Ann Beyersdorfer and Meredith Ries, working on their Off-Broadway, Regional, and International productions.
Joe has spent three summers at the Williamstown Theater Festival as an assistant scenic designer and scenic artist. Recent design credits include SUMMER'S SOLDIER and SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS WITH CEREAL for the festival's community works initiative & fellowship program. He is a six-time EVVY award nominee for outstanding scenic design at Emerson College, including wins for OCTOPUS in 2018 and IPSEITY in 2019. His design for A BRIGHT ROOM CALLED DAY received 1st runner up for scenic design at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival region one in 2018. See full resumé below.
